Ajay Kothiyal joins BJP: Ajay Kothiyal, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) chief ministerial candidate in Uttarakhand, has joined the BJP. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and State BJP President Madan Kaushik were present on the occasion. Colonel (Retd) Ajay Kothiyal had resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party on 18 May. Kothiyal, who contested from the Gangotri seat in the Uttarakhand assembly elections, lost his deposit.

In his letter to Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Ajay Kothiyal had said, “I have been a member of the Aam Aadmi Party from 19 April 2021 to 18 May 2022. Keeping in mind the sentiments of ex-servicemen, ex-servicemen of paramilitary forces, elders, women, youth and intellectuals, I am sending my resignation to you on May 18.
CM Kejriwal, while announcing Kothiyal’s name as AAP’s chief ministerial candidate in August last year, had said that the decision to choose a former army officer as the party’s chief ministerial face was received from the people of the state. is based on feedback.
AAP had big plans for Uttarakhand as it fielded candidates in all 70 assembly seats in the state. However, the party could not even open its account in the state.
