UP News: The Unnao rape case victim has moved the Supreme Court requesting to transfer the criminal case filed by the accused’s father from a lower court in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi. In December 2019, a Delhi court sentenced expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar to life imprisonment for abducting and raping a girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao in 2017. The victim was a minor at that time.
Non-bailable warrant issued against the victim
A court in Unnao has issued a non-bailable warrant against the victim on a criminal complaint of alleged cheating and forgery filed by the father of one of the accused in the recent gangrape case, Shubham Singh. The trial against Shubham is going on in a Delhi court in the Unnao gang rape case. The transfer petition filed by the Supreme Court alleges that “counter-judicial action” has been initiated in the Unnao court with a view to help in the defense in the sexual assault case against the victim girl.
Kuldeep Sengar is serving life sentence in jail
Sengar’s appeal against the conviction and life imprisonment is pending in the Delhi High Court. The court had recently sought a response from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on this. The trial court had convicted Sengar under various provisions including section 376(2) of the IPC. The court had decided to give the maximum sentence of life imprisonment to the convict and said that the convict will remain in jail till the last breath of his natural age. The court also imposed a heavy fine of Rs 25 lakh on him.
